HOC Children’s Home Battambang
- Currently around 80 boarders aged between 6 and 19 years live in our children’s home in Battambang. During schooltime around a further 90 children join the home additionally. The headmaster receives up to 50 applications daily for new entries. Due to lack of capacity these entries must be refused.
- The HIV-percentage is approximately 65%. Many students have been infected since their birth.
- The boat which you can see in the photos below serves for the practical training in the subject “fishing”.
- The new school building which you can see in the photos is only a small beginning of the ongoing project of modernization and enlargement of the children’s home.
- Currently there are two classrooms available. One for boys and one for girls, which also serve as dormitories.
- Like about 80% of the children and teenagers, the head of the children’s home himself is also an orphan. He lost his parents in the massacre of the Khmer Rouge. Approximately 3 million people were murdered in Cambodia during this time
